The growth of the eSports industry has brought many opportunities to the Indian gaming community. According to HP India Gaming Landscape Study 2023, Gaming Earnings in India 2023 will increase significantly as compared to 2022, Gamer earns over ₹6 lakh to ₹12 lakh per year
The study covering 3,000 gamers across 15 Indian cities highlighted that along with entertainment and relaxation, gamers are now turning to gaming to earn money and recognition. Sponsorships and eSports tournaments have emerged as important revenue sources, demonstrating the growing importance of the gaming community.
Vikram Bedi, Senior Director, Personal Systems, HP India Market, said, “It is exciting to see the eSports industry growing and providing diverse career opportunities to gamers. We believe that Indian youth not only have the potential to achieve great things in the global e-sports sector, but also to take advantage of the entrepreneurial opportunities in the industry. At HP we are launching initiatives like the HP Gaming Garage to help develop and inspire budding gamers.”
Multiple Career options
The gaming industry in India is also helping gamers try their hand at various career options. The report said that in addition to being a gamer, respondents also indicated having an eye on becoming an influencer or eSports management in the future.
Gaming is no longer limited to metropolitan cities. The study shows that there has been a huge increase in the number of serious gamers in non-metro cities. Gaming is also not limited to a specific demographic, as 75 percent of GenZ and 67 percent of Millennials are serious gamers. Approximately 58 percent of female respondents identified as serious gamers, underscoring the inclusive nature of gaming.
PC most preferred device for gaming:
PC emerges as a great choice when it comes to gaming devices, with 67% of gamers preferring it over mobile phones. According to statistics, gamers are willing to invest an average of more than Rs 1 lakh for a gaming PC due to better FPS and display.
